Match Preview. Colne (A) 15.2.25

Stockport Town travel North to Lancashire to play Colne FC for a crucial North West Counties Football League Premier Division fixture.

The Lions will be looking to end their three game winless streak against The Reds, who will be looking to get themselves away from the relegation zone and move themselves above bottom of the table.

Last time out for Town, it was a narrow 2-2 draw against Squires Gate, who were originally siting bottom of the table. A first half goal by Jack Coop put the away side in the lead, but in the second 45, Toby Green scored twice and put Town in the lead. However, in the 87th minute, James Hughes made it 2-2 and rescued Squires Gate a point.

The last time The Lions and The Reds played each other, it ended in a 1-3 loss for Town at Stockport Sports Village. The Lions will be seeking revenge and pick up another 3 points on the road.

Colne are currently in their second season in the NWCFL Premier Division after being relegated back to the league in the 2022/2023 season, seven years after they won the league.

So far this season, they currently sit in 24th place and have been switching between the bottom three spots all season. Colne also have the worst attack in the league having scored 34 times in 33 games.

Colne’s current run on form of one win, one draw, and three losses with the win coming against FC St Helens. Colne’s last match saw them lose 0-1 away from home at Lower Breck and on Tuesday 11th February, Colne were meant to host Lower Breck in the reverse fixture, but it was postponed.
