Stockport Town are looking to close the points gap between them and the playoff places but need to pass fellow playoff chasers Padiham FC in a crucial North West Counties Premier Division fixture.
The Lions are only four points outside of the playoffs and will be looking to close the points gap, but they must beat fellow playoff chasers Padiham FC, who sit only five points outside the playoffs and are also looking to close the points gap.
On Boxing Day, Town picked up a vital 1-0 away win against Glossop North End in a foggy fixture in Derbyshire. A Paul Turnbull free kick for Town was saved by the Glossop goalkeeper but it went right into the path of Ethan Padden, who put the ball into the back of the net and won Town the game in Glossop.
That win saw Town jump up to ninth place but still only four points FC St Helens who sit inside the playoffs.
Town and The Storks are still yet to play each other this season and this fixture will be the sides first encounter. The return fixture at SSV is on the 19th of April 2025 as the last game of the season.
The Opponents:
Padiham FC are currently in their eight season In the NWCFL Premier Division after being relegated back in the 2015/2016 season. So far this season, they sit in 10th place and five points outside the playoffs but only a point behind Town.
The Storks are currently on a four-game winning streak having beaten Cheadle Town, Glossop North End, Colne and Charnock Richard however, they haven’t played since the 17th of December due to the recent weather conditions.
