West Didsbury 2-0 Stockport Town

Stockport Town lose on the road in an intense match against West Didsbury & Chorlton
The Lions encountered a loss on the road to playoff chases West Didsbury & Chorlton in a intense match which ended 2-0 to the hosts.
The match started off in end-to-end battle for the first goal. Town and West both had chances to take the lead, but the better chances went to West as they manged to break through Town’s defence more than once.
In the 24th minute, West had their best chance as they took multiple shots and even had a penalty shout for a handball all within this minute, but Schofield and Town’s defence was able to hold on and stop them from taking the lead.
In the 29th minute, A poor challenge from Town lead to a free kick for West and after the referee had a talk to a few players, the free kick was taken and landed in the top left corner of Schofield’s net giving West the lead.
The rest of the first half saw more chances for both sides but they were wasted and eventually the half time whistle was blown with West ahead at the break.
Town started the second half with two subs seeing Depeiaza and Mapengu off with Lewis and Padden coming on. However, West started the second half with more aggression than Town seeing them have all the chances for the first five minutes.
In the 52nd minute, Martin took out Omokua in the box giving Town a penalty, but McLaughlin took the penalty and sent it straight over the bar.
Not long after the missed penalty West took the chance and counter attacked, but getting a corner for their efforts. Eventually in the 55th minute, West’s multiple corners finally found the head of Andy Briggs who headed it into the back of the net giving the hosts a two-goal lead.
After the goal, Town made two more subs which saw Omokua and Johnston coming off while Monaghan and new signing Kagame coming on. In the 63rd minute, Town made their last sub which saw Harvey coming off for Walker.
After these substitutions Town started taking control of the game but couldn’t find that goal to start the comeback.
The first booking of the match happened in the 84th minute when Andy Briggs fouled Atkinson in the centre circle. Later, the final whistle was blown and the match ended 2-0 with West Didsbury winning. This pushed them close to the playoff while Town were pushed down to 10th place.
Stockport Town’s next match is away on the 7th of December to Longridge Town who play at Inglewhite Road.
